At Hercules First Federal Credit Union, we celebrate our K-12 students and their hard work in school! We’re excited to reward your academic achievements through our Cash for Grades program. If you’re not already a member, don’t worry—every student is welcome to join!
We believe education is the key to a strong financial future, which is why we support our youth members by recognizing their scholastic efforts. For every “A” or equivalent, you’ll earn $2, and for every “B” or equivalent, you’ll earn $1. The money goes directly into your Hercules First Federal Credit Union account!

Our mission is to help members achieve their financial goals while “Growing Stronger Together.” We believe that today’s youth are the future of our credit union and our community.
The winners of this essay contest will be selected by Hercules First Federal Credit Union and a panel of designated judges. All decisions are final. By submitting an essay, participants confirm that their entry is original and has been created by them. It must not infringe on the intellectual property, privacy, or publicity rights of any third party, and must not have been entered into or won previous contests or awards, nor been published or distributed in any medium.
1st Place: $2,000
2nd Place: $1,500
3rd Place: $1,000
- Open to high school seniors in the 2026-2027 school year
- Must plan to pursue an undergraduate degree or certification at an accredited college, university, or technical school in 2027
- Submit a short essay (Between 750 and 1000 words double spaced) on one of two assigned topics.
- Please include a completed application with your essay attached.
- Essays will be accepted from now until November 1st at 11:59pm.
- Entries received after that time will not be accepted.
- Submit applications with essays by emailing them to scholarships@herculescu.com.
- The winners of the essay competition will be notified by email in February 2027.
